Denmark has used the single-step apostille process since the Convention took effect in 2006. No separate consular authentication or embassy legalization is required.

Documents Brought from Denmark to Korea

If you are submitting a document issued in Denmark to Korea, it must first go through the Danish issuing agency.

MFA Legalisation Office

The Legalisation Office under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Udenrigsministeriet) is Denmark's apostille-issuing agency. Digitally signed electronic documents can be issued an e-apostille through the Ministry's webshop (dys.um.dk), but official guidance explicitly states that, since an e-apostille is an electronic form without a physical signature or seal, you should check in advance whether the receiving institution will accept it.

Translation Practice

It is reported that Denmark's state-authorized translator (translatør) certification system has been abolished, but the exact date of abolition and the current legal status need confirmation; a private translators' association (DACTI) is used for voluntary certification.

According to official MFA webshop guidance, the fee is confirmed to be 250 DKK per document (as of the time of confirmation; subject to change). Please check in advance whether the receiving institution will accept an e-apostille.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do documents submitted to Denmark require an apostille?

Denmark has been a member of the Apostille Convention since December 29, 2006, so public documents that meet the Convention's requirements can be submitted with only an apostille, without consular authentication.

Where do I get an apostille for Danish documents?

The MFA Legalisation Office handles this, and digitally signed electronic documents can also be issued an e-apostille through the Ministry's webshop.

How should translation be handled?

The exact current legal status of the state-authorized translator system needs confirmation; certified translations through a private association are also in use. Please check the required standards directly with the receiving institution.

How much does it cost?

Per the official MFA webshop, the fee is confirmed to be 250 DKK per document, but this may change, so please always re-verify on the official site. You can request an individual quote at Get a Quote.

Can I have multiple documents handled at once?

Yes, you can submit multiple documents together. Let us know the quantity at Get a Quote.
